Malarkey is a manufacturer of mostly roofing shingles, which happens to be the most popular roof material type in the U.S. While there are plenty of roofing shingle manufacturers that sell their products to roofing contractors in the Portland area and across the U.S., Malarkey Roofing Products makes three-tab, architectural, laminated, and heavyweight shingles, all of them available in various colors – so homeowners can rest assure their roofscape will be beautiful and up to their taste.

Malarkey is currently working with Northwest Natural to develop an implementation solution for increasing methane use, aiming for 90% of manufacturing facilities to run on methane. All methane consumed at Malarkey is used in manufacturing products at the facility — everything from curing fiberglass mats to providing a heat source in process to produce asphalt shingles and other roofing products.

The Portland-area roof manufacturer is being sold to a Swiss construction materials firm. Holcim said that Portland-area roofing manufacturers footprint across the west and south is complementary to Firestone Building Products, the Tennessee-based commercial roofing firm that it acquired earlier this year.
